簡介 Description

常見於臺灣低海拔路邊坡,株高約2-3公尺。葉片披針形。圓錐花序呈總狀花序下垂,花序軸紫紅色,花被片白色漏斗狀,頂端粉紅色,唇瓣黃色縐曲。果實為球形蒴果,表面多縱稜,成熟時艷紅色。地下莖及髓心可食,地上莖及葉鞘可編織,葉片可包粽子等食物包材,帶有清香。

Commonly found on low-altitude roadside slopes in Taiwan. The plant with lanceolate leaves can grow up to 2-3 meters tall. It produces panicles drooping like racemes with a purple-red inflorescence rachis. The funnel-shaped perianth lobes are white with pink apex enclosing the flower buds, and the flower labellum are yellow with crisped apex. Spherical capsule fruits with many longitudinal ribs on the surface turn bright red when ripe. The rhizome and tender pith of the stems are edible, the stems above the ground and leaf sheaths are used as woven materials. Its leaves with a delicate fragrance are also the great wrapping materials for cooking, such as the use of making Zongzi, a sticky rice delicacy.
