樹高可達15公尺，粗糙樹皮呈灰褐色。革質葉片十字對生。花為白色圓錐花序，球形漿果狀蒴果，成熟呈紅色。木材輕軟暗褐色，可作小型器具；木柴耐燃、好劈，是相當好的薪材。
The tree can reach a height of 15 meters. It has the bark is grayish brown with rough surface. The coriaceous leaves are decussately arranged. The species produces white flower panicles, and spherical berry-like capsule fruits that turn red when ripe. The light and soft wood is dark brown, and often used for small utensils and as long-lasting firewood.
